The year is halfway done, and it's been a great year so far. With more outings, we have been having a blast. We recently celebrated the Troop's 1st Eagle Scout, and should have 3 more in the next 10 months. With Summer Camp looming, and other events, the rest of the year is shaping up to be a great one. Keep up the great work!

Wow...it's 50 degrees today. Is winter ever going to get here? Be patient. It will come.

And speaking of that, 2 new members came to our troop. Sean came from another troop that just wasn't delivering the promise of Scouting. Richie came to us from California. Both have found a home with us, and I am really glad to have them a part of our troop.

We have our campout coming up on the 18th of this month. If you haven't signed up, be sure to do so by the 15th. Thanks

Wow...Spring is really starting to look like it is here. We got a camp out in April at the Courses, and had a great time. Last weekend, we had a troop swim, where 9 new Scouts completed their 1st Class swimming requirement, along with other Scouts having a great time playing water polo and basketball. We have an upcoming Merit Badge/Skills Day, at the Courses. This will help the Scouts understand more what we are all about, and have a great environment to learn in...the Outdoors.

For the first time in a long time, I am feeling really good about the state of the troop. Scouts are laughing and learning...heck, I was even laughing to myself at the swim the other day...no other reason than I was just happy to see those Scouts having a great time.

Wow, it's been a long time since I posted any words of advice, wisdom or random thoughts. Where to begin?

* Our troop is up to 23 Scouts, and we have another Scout who is thinking about transferring from his troop to ours
* Summer Camp sign-ups...wow, all veteran Scouts have signed up for summer camp.
* NYLT. This is special to me. We are sending our 5th Scout for training, and he will be getting some of that training from one of our own Scouts who's been asked to be on staff, Ethan
* And speaking of Ethan, he's working at Twin Lakes camp again this year. For those that are eligible, you may want to think about joining him, for those that aren't, get yourself prepared.
* Finally, welcome to all of the new Scouts and their families. Some of them I have known for a few years, some of them I can't wait to get to know.

All in all, it's going to be a great year!

Another PLC in the books.

Great couple of months planned, including some Webelos events that will be upcoming.

Annual Planning Program will be coming up on Sunday, September 7th, 9 AM at the Moose Lodge. All members of the troop are invited to come and give their thoughts or ideas to the PLC, for what they would like to see for the year.

Per the usual...Great things happening at 1363!

Wow, it sure has been a long time since I sent a message to my Scouts.

A lot has happened in the short time since I last posted.

* A new PLC has been elected, with a new SPL (first timer)
* Your Scoutmaster has found a great job (can spend more time focusing on Scouting)
* We've lost some people...we didn't lose them, per say...we know where they are, they just aren't coming to meetings anymore.
* Our older Scouts are growing up (Ethan off to work at camp. Tyler off for adventures in Peru and behind the wheel)
* One of the Rocking Chair patrol is missing meetings now so that he can go back to college for 'extra credit'
* One Scout has returned with a new vigor, and has been handed some weighty responsibilities
* We had a troop swim where a few Scouts finished the requirements for 2nd and 1st Class (Way to go Sam, Dakota and Blake!)

There is a lot of good stuff coming up, too

* Summer Camp is always good
* New member of the Rocking Chair Patrol has been coming to more meetings, and he's ready to get Scouts in the troop!
* With the amount of advancement going on, we should have more Scouts who will be OA-eligible this upcoming year.

Once again, lots of great stuff happening in the troop, and it's a great time to be a Scout in Troop 1363

Spring is here...I think. Although I wasn't able to make the last campout, from the sounds of it, winter still had a bit of a grip on the Scouts that stayed at Gardner Dam. A bit of frost in the morning followed a long night for some Scouts that may not have been fully prepared for the chilly temps. But, I don't worry about that, as the Scouts from 1363 are some of the toughest guys that I know, and they learn from their mistakes.

With that said, I was pleased to hear about the great time that was had by all. The biking, the climbing, the fire building and the experience of cold weather camping creates memories that will last for a lifetime.

I have posted a couple of things on the calendar and the Summer Camp page, mainly the Merit Badges that are offered, and the updated medical forms.

Happy Scouting!

It's been a month since I last posted anything. Life happens and that can take you away from your keyboard for that amount of time. We've had a pretty successful month.

* 4 new Scouts have joined us. They have joined existing patrols
* A great Court of Honor where we recognized many rank advancements and merit badges
* An FOS presentation, which our unit doubled what we did last year
* And finally, a great winter campout where all the Scouts learned how to snowshoe

We have a great March and April planned, and starting to put the pieces in place for summer camp. Yup, it's still cold outside, but I can already smell the campfires...

It's been a couple of weeks since my last post. Quite a bit has been happening, as usual. We have completed all TLT for this session of the PLC, and all the Scouts who hold PLC positions are now trained.

Tonight, is Pack 4363's Blue and Gold dinner. We will be accepting 4 new Scouts into the troop, which is pretty darn cool.

We have the camp out on the the weekend of the 21st to the 23rd, at Bear Paw. Other events have been planned and have been posted on the calendar.

Great Job so far in 2014, and things are looking to be a great year!
